Chang Gung University made an impressive achievement in the life sciences and medicine fields according to the QS World University Ranking According to the 2016 QS World University Ranking by Subject published by the UK-based higher education institution Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) on the 22nd of March, Chang Gung University achieved an impressive ranking. CGU is placed in 5th place in the life sciences and medicine and in 6th place in the biological sciences among all universities in Taiwan. The calculation indices used by the QS World University Ranking by Subject include academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper, and H-index. The QS World University Rankings by Subject applies a slightly different weighting of the above-mentioned indicators in each category. In addition, due to variation across academic areas, the QS also lists different numbers of places for different subject rankings. Some subject areas have 50 places in their rankings. Others have up to 500.
The QS World University Rankings by Subject, as of 2016, ranks the world’s top universities in individual subject areas, covering 42 subjects. Chang Gung University has four subject areas within the rankings, including medicine (ranks 151-200 worldwide), pharmacy and pharmacology (ranks 151-200 worldwide), biological sciences (ranks 251-300 worldwide), and computer science (ranks 401-450 worldwide). The QS World University Rankings by Subject is one of the indicators for universities to examine their academic and educational performance.
